Don’t know what to do with your pumpkins after Halloween?
Edina’s Pumpkin Smash and Bash event has the perfect, earth-friendly solution!
No one wants their pumpkin smashed before Halloween… but the day after is fair game!
Join in the fun and games by bringing your unpainted/non-decorated pumpkin to Countryside Park between 10am and noon on November 1st. See whose pumpkin rolls down the hill the fastest or watch as the Edina Fire Department drops pumpkins from the top of their rescue ladder. Alternatively, you can choose to smash your pumpkin yourself, just be sure to dress appropriately, we all know how slimy pumpkins can get – reusing your Halloween costume one last time is a good option!
Composting is a fantastic option as it helps keep waste out of our landfills and helps create nutrient-rich soil that is beneficial to new plants in the spring. Important to note, only natural pumpkins with no paint, glitter, candle wax, or stickers can be used for composting. Also remember to remove any candles or glowsticks from the pumpkins before smashing!
Don’t have time to partake in the smashing party? No worries! You can still drop off your pumpkins near the Countryside Park ice rink starting at 8:30am.
